Our Certificate Programs

As a licensed mental health professional, you're probably researching a wide range of options for post- graduate training. Not only are you considering psychoanalytic training, but you may be considering other modalities for training as well. At PPSC, we believe we offer a unique program for clinicians who wish to develop a solid foundation in psychoanalytic treatment and for those seeking to deepen their understanding of psychodynamic work with patients. Our course of study enables therapists to integrate theory and technique with their own personal styles, and use multiple theoretical approaches to enhance their understanding of complex human experience. 

A Program to Fit Your Needs

We offer both a 4 year certificate in Psychoanalysis and a 3 year certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.  The Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy programs feature the same curriculum in the first three years of training with different personal analytic and supervision requirements. The fourth year of the Psychoanalysis Program is devoted to further comparison and integration of theory through special advanced colloquia and cutting edge electives. All programs can be taken either full time or part time, and participants or graduates of the three-year program can opt into the four-year program at any time.

An Individualized Experience

At PPSC each candidate’s needs and goals, from the point of application all the way through to final certification, is addressed through personalized educational planning with the help of an advisor. We believe that the therapist’s personal analysis, individual supervision and clinical work are essential aspects of the training experience that go hand in hand with our course work, and each component strengthens and enhances the other.  Like the patients we work with, each candidate’s journey is unique.  PPSC strives to provide a learning atmosphere that supports and encourages this uniqueness while offering a cohesive course of study that will equip each analyst with the personal and professional tools for effective work.  Successful completion of all PPSC programs is based on candidates meeting all course and training requirements, receiving satisfactory evaluations from faculty and supervisors at all levels of training and demonstrating competency in relevant treatment issues without undue interference from the candidates' own character. In all programs, ongoing personal treatment and supervision are considered essential aspects of the training experience.
